Beauty Guru of the Month for May 2013!

For Lindsay Marciniak, StarCentral Magazine’s Beauty Guru of the Month for May 2013, one reason that she is “…obsessed with makeup, hair, fashion and everything girly…” is that it is a “…great creative outlet…just the way makeup can transform your appearance, and all the colours and finishes and looks you can create just amazed me …”  Another reason for her being passionate about her craft is that “…I enjoy being able to make women look beautiful which in turn makes them feel beautiful and confident. It gives me such pleasure to know that I helped someone gain confidence and see their natural and true beauty…”

Lindsay’s first exposure to the beauty industry was when, as a little girl, watching her mother put on her makeup every morning – “…I wanted to be just like her, and she is a beautiful woman who always has the best makeup and skin…”  Four years ago, that early interest grew with the help of YouTube and pretty soon, she launched her own channel, ‘May4daisy’s’. After doing the makeup for a girlfriend’s wedding, “…I decided to turn my passion for makeup into a career because I truly believe that if you have a passion for something and you have the potential to make money from it, then go for it! We only live once and I want to enjoy going to work every single day and that’s what makeup would do for me…”

The 24-year old Canadian’s (she also has Polish, Irish and Scottish ancestry) time on YouTube has exposed her to other vloggers who inspire her with their own makeup and fashion ideas.  She has found her discovery of the YouTube community, both vloggers and viewers, as a “…memorable experience… I love meeting new people and have made some wonderful friends in the process…” and just “…the fact that people from all over the world who share a common passion can come together and support each other and give advice to one another is really amazing…”

While the YouTube community continues to motivate her, Lindsay credits her “biggest inspirations” to her parents.  They “…always encourage me to go after my dreams and always support me and they taught me to stay true to myself and that anything is possible…”  Counting on that support, Lindsay is working hard at becoming certified in the industry as well as taking up classes to further her skills.  She hopes to one day become a freelance makeup artist, have her own makeup line and to be employed within the cosmetic industry.  “…everyone who is successful had to start somewhere. It’s important to take those first steps…work hard and it will continue to grow. If you have a passion for something then go for it because if you love what you do, it will show in your work.”

1.            Your best guilty pleasure…

                “My best guilty pleasure is a toss up between online shopping and reality t.v.! I love both            equally!”

2.            What is the one beauty product you can’t live without?

                “The one beauty product I cannot live without is mascara! It opens up your eyes and makes such             a difference in your appearance.”

3.            What is the most dramatic thing you’ve ever done to change your looks?

                “The most dramatic thing I have done to change my looks is dying my hair jet black from light     platinum blonde on my own! Worst decision ever! lol”

4.            What is in your makeup bag when you travel?

                “When I travel, I keep foundation,concealer, bronzer, blush, my Urban decay naked pallets,       liner, mascara and gloss in my makeup bag, along with false eyelahes!”

5.            What is the one “flaw” you wouldn’t change about yourself?

“The one flaw that I wouldn’t change about myself is the fact that I enjoy being lazy and having                 days where I do absolutely nothing! I wouldn’t change that because I enjoy relaxing and taking a      day or two to myself.”
