Beauty Guru of the Month for October 2012

Whoever thought boredom could lead to such success! For Diana Moore, StarCentral Magazine’s Beauty Guru of the Month for October 2012, it was being bored that led to her interest in makeup and fashion. “I was a junior in high school, I never wore make up or even wore any type of accessory. I was bored one day and started browsing around YouTube and found the channel “Fafinettex3″. Ever since I watched my first makeup YouTube video I have been hooked!” Diana launched her own channel, ‘Beautyzombiee’ in March 2011 and in that short time has amassed a staggering nearly 15,000 subscribers with nearly 1,500,000 video views!

But Diana’s amazing success has not been without heartache. In fact, the support of her many subscribers proved invaluable when she was diagnosed with retinoblastoma. A form of eye cancer, it resulted in one of her eyes necessarily being replaced by an artificial one. “Not once have I ever met anyone like me in person, but when I started YouTube I got emails from women and men all over the world that tell me they went through what I…and how they look to me like an inspiration and a role model to help them feel more confident with themselves.”

As Diana explores her love for beauty and fashion, she finds that she enjoys “that you can express yourself through style and make up…I also believe it enhances one’s inner beauty because when people feel good on the outside they start to feel great on the inside.” Crediting her subscribers with her continued success (“If it wasn’t for them I wouldn’t be where I am today.”), she also knows that their support and that of her family has helped her to learn “to not let people get to you. There are plenty of haters out there who would like to see you fail and shut down your potential, but if you keep doing what you’re doing and don’t mind them you’ll still go far!”
