With that catchphrase, you’re catapulted into the 1980’s nostalgia flick, ‘The Goonies’.  The story of an intrepid group of young misfit adventurers on a treasure hunt captured the imaginations of a generation of youngsters around the world.  Many of those kids still have a soft spot for the film way into their adulthood.  Maybe it was because the heroes weren’t from the ‘cool’ group from school, maybe it was the idea that it doesn’t matter how old you are, you can still make a difference.  Maybe it was the knowledge that when you have the right friends, your best friends, the ones you can count on, there’s no telling how far you can go or maybe it was because the movie was just plain fun!  But whatever the reason, ‘The Goonies’ still continues to fascinate.

On March 17, 2009, the cast of ‘The Goonies’ gathered at a top-secret location in Los Angeles for a reunion, 25 years after they first got together to start filming the movie.  Here’s where they are now….

Mikey – Sean Astin

Sean’s never really left the big screen since ‘The Goonies’.  At the time the other movie he was best known for was Toy Soldiers.  To a new generation, he’s now most famous for The Lord of the Rings Trilogy where he played the loyal Hobbit, Samwise Gamgee.  He has also guest starred in ‘50 First Dates’, TV series ‘Law and Order’ and ‘24′.

 Andy - Kerri Green

To audition for the role of Andy, Kerri skipped summer camp.  She’s more focused on her family, but she still dabbles in the movie business with a role in the indie flick, ‘Complacent’ which is out later this year.

 Brand - Josh Brolin

At 17, Josh was the oldest Goonie.  He was quiet in the movie front after ‘The Goonies’ but he’s now re-emerged in a big way.  Oscar-nominated for his role in ‘Milk’, he’s also been in ‘No Country for Old Men’, ‘In The Valley of Elah’, ‘American Gangster’ and he played George W. Bush in ‘W’.  Future projects include ‘Jonah Hex’ and an as yet untitled Woody Allen film.

 Chunk - Jeff Cohen

The most changed of ‘The Goonies cast’, Jeff was famous for the belly-wiggling Truffle-Shuffle!  He is now a high-flying entertainment lawyer with his own successful firm and has lost all that baby fat!

 Mouth – Corey Feldman

Corey’s fame in Hollywood had a lot more to do his personal life than his acting after ‘The Goonies’.  Though he was in some great films afterwards (‘Gremlins’, ‘The Lost Boys’, ‘Stand By Me’), his run-ins with drugs and being part of the Brat Pack, earned him a colourful reputation.  These days, he dabbles in acting but is more into his band, Truth Movement, which is releasing a new album shortly.

 Data - Ke Huy Quan

Of all ‘The Goonies’ cast, Ke Huy Quan, probably had the most uncomfortable time on the shoot as his character, Data was forever carrying around his crazy inventions.  Ke Huy remembers having to stand very still for 15-20 minutes as the special effects team sets up his gadgets!  After ‘The Goonies’, he worked with Steven Speilberg again on ‘Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom’.  He then swapped acting for action choreography and he is at the moment developing a New-York based film he described as a love story with action in it!

 Stef - Martha Plimpton

After ‘The Goonies’, Martha has continued to impress with roles in ‘The Mosquito Coast’, ‘Parenthood’ and ‘Mrs Parker and the Vicious Circle’.  She continues to shine on Broadway.
