In a risky move that has shocked a number of people, according to the Herald Sun, golden girl Stephanie Rice has just decided to dump her management company International Quarterback and decided to manage herself because she believed that the industry-standard 20 per cent commission was simply too much.

At just 21 years old, Stephanie has already decided to take control of her business dealings and negotiate sponsorship and endorsement deals.

Earlier on, it was perceived that her mother, Raelene Clark, was actually taking over the management role in Stephanie’s career but then yesterday Raelene confirmed that Stephanie was just “self-managing” instead.

A source close to Rice said that “She looked at the figures and saw 20 per cent of her earnings going to her management company and she felt it was a lot of money and decided to manage herself – which is her prerogative.”

An executive from an organization Rice already had a relationship with said that her decision was actually quite intriguing.

“She is an extremely self-assured young woman, so if any sports person can pull it off, then she can,” the executive said.

Stephanie currently has existing deals with Channel 7, Davenport underwear, Sunrise rice, Speedo and Telstra so she has a lot in her hands. She has also enlisted the help of Brisbane marketing expert Claire Groves who also happens to be her friend.
