It looks like CW is in the hot seat right now due to Gossip Girl’s “too sexy for words to say” ad.
Can a promo ad for a teen show be that sexy that parents would want to ban the show itself?
Well in the case of Gossip girl – it sure can!
On-air promos for an upcoming episode of “Gossip Girl” have prompted the Parents Television Council to urge affiliates of the CW network to ban the showing of its latest episode.
You know why?
Because the promo ad promotes a threesome!
Well, well, well … when and what time is Gossip Girl showing? I just want to uhm … watch it for research purposes for an article that’s all …
The teaser promotes the ad with a tagline of *gulp* “3SOME.”
Well this specific ad definitely ruffled some feathers especially PTC president Tim Winter who referred to the ad as “reckless and irresponsible.” The alleged threesome involves three of the main characters of the show, but the ad didn’t specify which characters are involved in the threesome though.
The said episode is scheduled for release on Nov. 9 but the PTC has strongly appealed CW affiliate stations not to air the raunchy episode.
PTC president Tim Winter wrote a letter to the affiliates which stated: “Will you now be complicit in establishing a precedent and expectation that teenagers should engage in behaviours heretofore associated primarily with adult films?”
CW spokesman Paul McGuire explained that the target audience for “Gossip Girl” is between 18- to 34-year-old women, with a median viewer age of 27 years old.
He also advised that there were no comments made by the network regarding PTC’s complaint.
