Originally from Spain, Jamie Leah Perez has lived in Australia all her life with her mother and sister. At 22, this Sagittarius has a lot of spunk and fire in the belly to achieve a lot as the years go by. A lot of credit goes to the creative environment that Jamie was brought up in. Most of her interests also lie in areas that allow for a creative outlet like writing, drawing and singing.
Jamie was made aware of her vocal gift when she was holidaying in Spain with her family. When her mother sprung up a makeshift microphone with some grapevines, sticks and a Fanta bottle cap, Jamie got her first exposure what it would feel like to sing with a microphone. With a promise that she would get a set once back in Australia, Jamie knew she had hit upon something she might like to do for the rest of her life.
Plumpton High School (a performing arts school) accepted Jamie with open arms and this is where she was able to hone her singing and musical skills; something that ensured her a part in all the school musicals henceforth. Even though she got through the music course at the Nirimba College, she could not complete the course due to some unforeseen personal circumstances.
The first performance was one of the most memorable ones when Jamie was called to perform at the Sydney Opera House. She still remembers the mesmerizing hall, the astounding acoustics and the encouragement that she received when Miss Belle, her music teacher said that she could not wait to see her voice blossom. Another performance that she cannot forget is the one that she was part of via the church organization, Holy Spirit Parish in St. Claire, that led her to the Parramatta Diocese for a performance in front of a large audience. The performance was so good that it was featured in the newspaper.
Other than these memorable performances, Jamie performs from her heart at weddings, funerals, birthday parties and at every other occasion that she is called upon to sing. She is known in her network of friends and relatives as someone who has a great voice and therefore is called upon to sing at various events and occasions. Despite the fact that she loves singing irrespective of where she is, the thing that she enjoys the most is when she sits at home and writes music; something that she can do for hours sitting at the piano.
Jamie’s fantasy about her future in music knows no limits. She just has to close her eyes to see herself singing in a recording studio with a record label, or in Nigeria to raise awareness. or in front of a large audience at the Olympics.
Jamie derives her inspiration from life itself and her main support has been her mother who has supported her all the time. Her learning also came from observing her mother and various other artists play. With the competitiveness in the music industry being the largest challenge in her life, Jamie is sure that she will be able to make a difference with the support of all her fans on YouTube and Facebook.
