The Best of the Superbowl Ads
The Who rocked a laser light show, Letterman played nice with Leno, and the New Orleans Saints defeated the Indianapolis Colts in Super Bowl XLIV, 31-17.
In between all the action, there was a surprising appearance by Jay Leno and David Letterman in a Late Show promo in which the two sat on opposite ends of a sofa with Oprah Winfrey in between. They munched on chips — and looked unhappy about their Super Bowl party.
Letterman came up with the idea for the spot, thinking that it would be funny, said Rob Burnett, his executive producer. Winfrey and Leno flew into New York last week, were slipped into the Ed Sullivan Theater and taped it in the strictest secrecy, The New York Times reported.
Doritos dominated the Twittersphere with the most tweets during the game, and earned the top spot in the online Brand Bowl 2010.
CSI fans were thrilled to hear a little cross promotion going on during the halftime show as The Who sang “Who Are You” — the show’s theme song.
