Tough Twelve Interview with promising Entrepreneur Regan Anne Hillyer

1. Tell us your name and something about yourself.

My name is Regan Anne Hillyer. My main purpose in life is to have a positive influence on every single person that I in some way come in contact with. I am an entrepreneur, a motivator, a qualified architect, a musician, a model, an actress and last but not least, a currency trader.

2. Give us a brief description of your business.

When people ask me what I do, the response I usually receive is often, “Sorry what?” I smile and I repeat to them, “I am a Foreign Exchange currency trader.” The Foreign Exchange market is the largest and one of the hottest markets out there! Forex trading, put simply, is the simultaneous buying of one currency and the selling of another.

3. What makes your business unique?

To explain the concept of trading Forex to all the people reading this that don’t trade; if you have ever been overseas, you have technically participated in a foreign exchange transaction. You exchanged your domestic currency for the currency of the country that you were traveling to. This is what I do with my Forex trading business. I trade my own money, buying and selling different currencies each day or night, right from my own computer, or even from my App on my iPhone. I can literally make money from anywhere and anytime as long as I have my iPhone with me and that’s what makes my business unique! My currency trading allows me to create passive income each month, which in term gives me more time and freedom for me to move on and achieve bigger goals, one of which is motivating people.

4. Which is worse: when a good friend moves away, or losing touch with a good friend who lives right near you?

I believe that distance is never a measure of friendship. If a good friend moves away and you lose touch with that friend, it is the exact same thing as losing touch with a good friend who lives right near you. It is a breakdown in rapport and connection. People change and grow and so do friendships. If a good friend moves away and you maintain a strong connection with them, then that shows that you really do have a long term, stable relationship with that person.

5. What are you most grateful for in life?

I wake up every morning and I am grateful to be alive! Tomorrow is never promised to us. I am eternally grateful to my parents who provided me with a solid education and constant love and support. I am grateful for all of the amazingly supportive people that I have in my life and I am grateful for all of the opportunities that have come my way. The first step to success is gratitude. Often some of the most beautiful, most satisfying things in life our right outside your window. If you open your eyes you might actually be surprised on what you see!

6. Has your greatest fear ever came true?

My greatest fear, to be honest, was failure. It was only a few years ago that I learn to come to grips with the concept of failure. I began to realise that success is all about pushing through your failures and working out what went wrong. It was then that I began to live with the mindset of, “Now get back up and try again…”

7. Would you rather have less work to do, or more work you actually enjoy doing?

I have always worked smarter, not harder. This question makes me smile, because when you are doing what you truly love doing, it is no longer work. When you have reached the level where your work or your job is so enjoyable to you, you can no longer call it work. In this situation, you are simply being paid to exist. I get paid to exist!

8. If you knew that everyone you know was going to die tomorrow, who would you visit today?

Wow, that’s a bit of a dark question!! Everyone is going to die tomorrow? I’d probably get all of my close friends together for a group Skype chat! There would be no way that I would be able to travel to say goodbye to everyone in less an 24 hours!!

9. Would you be willing to reduce your life expectancy by 10 years to become extremely attractive or famous?

No way. Life is not about how attractive you are or how famous you are. I would much rather have 10 years living life to my full potential. Anyway, both of those factors can ultimately be controlled. Happiest people are the most attractive people. Someone with a huge smile will light up a room and people will automatically be drawn to them. And as for fame, unless you are born as Paris Hilton, fame often comes as a sidekick to success. If you are achieving great things, chances are, you will soon be recognized for them.

10. What do you think is the difference between being alive and truly living?

The fact is, most people just exist! I walk down the street and often want to shake people walking past because they look like they are half asleep!! You can see it in someone’s eyes when they are truly living. When someone is truly living, they will be eternally grateful for all of the amazing things in their life and they will be living every day, every minute, every second to their full potential.

11. When do you feel it’s the right time to stop calculating risk and rewards, and just go ahead and do what you know is right?

It’s obviously important to weigh up risks and rewards. People have to be careful that they don’t get stuck in a rut of constantly analyzing everything, which in turn delays them taking any action in their life. So many people need to stop waiting around for things to happen and start to go out and start making things happen. People are presented with opportunities every day, although many people wouldn’t see those opportunities even if they were smacked in the face with them! It is up to us as individuals to see those individuals, take a risk and take immediate action when the opportunities present themselves. Do something everyday that scares you a little. Take calculated risks, which is quite different from purely being rash. If you don’t take calculated risks, you will never truly challenge yourself to achieve greater things.

12. What has been one of the most profound “hard questions” you have encountered in your life and how did you deal with it?

One of the hardest questions that I have encountered, I started being asked repeatedly from when I was about 5 years old. Every family member, every teacher, every adult would ask: “What do you want to be when you grow up?” And believe me, I always had an answer. When I was 5, I desperately wanted to be a farmer. I had named every single animal on my farm. The problem was, the answers kept changing – drastically. And do you know what, I still couldn’t tell you what I want to be. All I know is that I am hugely passionate about everything that I am doing in my life at the moment. And I also know now, that everything that I do will keep changing, as I keep changing, growing and developing. So just remember, life is all about changes. Things won’t always play out perfectly in your life, but when the going gets tough, the tough get going. It is simply up to you to make the most of the opportunities that come your way. So when you feel as though you need some direction in your life, imagine yourself as a 5 year old being asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” Whatever your answer is at the time, go ahead and make it happen – just please make sure that you don’t ever actually grow up!
