My tips for fitting more into your wardrobe

We all know it’s a tough life being a girl- we can never have enough space in our cupboards to store all of our clothes. I dream of having a wardrobe like Carrie in Sex and the City like most other fashionistas.

While we do have a lot of clothes I am sure you aren’t wearing them all. I can brainstorm many excuses to hold onto a dress but in the end, will I ever wear it again? If you are making excuses that you will wear it next Halloween, then it is definitely time to dispose of that fave piece.

Here are some handy hints to clean out your wardrobe to give you another excuse to shop more, more and more…

1. Locate your closest charity bin at www.findbins.com.au

2. Get rid of clothes you don’t really wear to make room for upcoming seasonal buys. A good tip to remember is that if you haven’t worn it all season, then it should go.

3. If it hasn’t been repaired in a year, then let’s face it, you really don’t care about it, so bin it.

4. If the top was meant to be white but now has a yellow tinge, then its time to get rid of it. Don’t consider bleaching it.

5. Organise a clothing swap party between you and all your girlfriends so you can swap the clothes which you are sick of for a new find in someone else’s wardrobe. This gives you some new clothes without paying a cent.

6. I learnt from experience to put your clothing for the charity bins into smaller bags- not a garbage bag as it won’t fit into the chute.

7. Take your good stuff down to the markets, hold a garage sale or sell it on eBay for a bit of extra cash. I have tried all these methods and usually end up very happy with money in my pocket and a clean closet.
