Female Artist of the Month for May 2013!

Unique. Groundbreaking. Talented.  Adjectives that all accurately apply to Kika Terremotto, StarCentral Magazine’s Female Artist of the Month for May 2013.  Kika first blazed onto the music scene way back in 1991 when her close friend, “…promoter extraordinaire…” Gianni Casella invited her to perform at the Avana Disco Club and K2. She grabbed the industry’s attention and soon found herself as the very first Sardinian woman to DJ on national (Italian) radio.  Since then, she has established herself as one of the world’s foremost electronic dance musicians with her songs getting airplay not only in Italy, but also in the UK, the US and Canada.  She has signed with multiple international labels and has DJ’d at music festivals, fashion shows and even on X-Factor (UK) and British Idol last year!

But what started Kika on this road to musical stardom? “Definitely my Father! Who has passed away. He was with a doubt one the greatest inspirations in my life. He was a talented Jazz and Blues pianist, an amazing musician who worked for the National Television, and played for so many festivals and pubs all across Sardinia…” Continuing to inspire her are her 2 children, her fiancé who just so happens to be a DJ himself (“…he’s a DJ/Producer from the United States, better known as DJ Complex…”) and her long-time friend, Loretta Livingstone (“…who is a writer and poet, and truly amazing storyteller…”).

Kika’s father would no doubt be incredibly proud of the achievements of his multi-talented daughter.  She has a multitude of original songs to her name (many of which are chart-topping hits) and she has collaborated with many of the industry’s top names such as Ross Hilliard and DJ Siki.  But it is performing to an audience that Kika enjoys most about her career. “…What I enjoy most really is the connection with the people, to entertain, and make everyone smile, and above all else to make people want to DANCE…every gig, every time I’ve been on the stage, it’s all been a very moving, and memorable experience for me…”

So what does the future hold for Kika Terremoto?  “…I’m currently working on some Jazz music right now which is still in the works, and I’ll be getting married soon to the love of my life…” Her fervent hope is to have a baby girl some day whom she hopes will share her love for music and “…turn the world into a dancefloor!”
