So Who are the first ever winners of GMA’S Next Big Star?

Show-stopping performances … Striking transformations … Intense singing battles …. Sounds like the typical Karaoke night at my Tito Boyet’s house!

Okay no, this is not another article about how swell my family is or how great our voices seem like during Karaoke night – this is about GMA’s brightest reality search “ARE YOU THE NEXT BIG STAR?”

Thousands of aspiring singers applied to get in the TV show, but ultimately it boiled down to just six finalists: Geoff, Alex and Jay for the male division, and Frencheska, Camille and Zyrene Parsad for the female division.

The battle was fierce and the game was on!

The finale was actually held at GMA’s stunning high-tech new studio. The remaining six finalists battled hard to outshine each other in three rounds of non-stop singing. They were then each paired with a veteran performer before they flew solo in the last and determining round.

So who are the winners? Drum roll please …

It’s actually Geoff and Frencheska! Their accumulated scores, the final tally of text votes each one had received, and the votes of the judges determined the result.

Frencheska is a charming 16-year-old beautiful lass from Las Piñas City in Metro Manila, Philippines whilst Geoff is a 23-year-old rocker from Cagayan Valley. Each won an exclusive management contract from GMA Artist Centre, a recording deal with GMA Records, 1 million pesos in cash from SM Supermalls, a condominium unit from Avida Towers, New Manila, and other exciting prizes fit for a star – not too shabby huh?

ARE YOU THE NEXT BIG STAR?’s top 16 finalists, known as the “Circle of 16,” also performed with the judges – Danny Tan, Mon Faustino, Annie Quintos, Vernie Varga, and Pops Fernandez.

And Guests included Ogie Alcasid, Basil Valdez, Joey Generoso, Renz Verrano, Gian Magdangal, Maricris Garcia, Julia Clarete, Jet Pangan, Mark Tupaz, Geneva Cruz, Kyla, and Kuh Ledesma.
