3 reasons it’s easy to lose weight in summer…and 3 reasons it’s not so easy

There’s some great points to summer, and then there are some down points. When dieting, it doesn’t get much easier. It’s a catch 22 situation. Below are three reasons it’s easy to lose wieght in summer. Then, typically, there are three reasons it’s not so easy. Try to combat the not-so-easy reasons with the easy ones. Embrace the good and say goodbye to the bad. It may take some effort, but the end result will be so worth it!
3 Reasons it’s easy:
1/ Summer fruits: With summer comes an array of healthy fruits and vegetables. Mangoes, cherries, peaches, plums, grapes…handfuls of fruits…all come in season, which makes it easier to stick to a healthy eating plan. Gorging on fruit salads and yoghurt, and piles of summer salads does wonders for the waist line. It’s all about replacing the junk food with the food that’s in season- too easy!
2/ Bikini Bodies: If motivation to lose wieght comes into it, nothing is more motivational than having to strip half naked in front of a beach of strangers! Bikini season means working hard to tone and trim your body- and if it ever feels like too much work, remind yourself of that itsy bitsy bikini you’ve got waiting for you at home. Nothing could be more motivational than that!
3/ The heat: In winter it gets so cold that we eat for comfort. Cakes, chocolates and pies are all unhealthy foods we’re likely to gobble down in the cooler months. In summer, however, it’s too hot to eat such rich foods. The heat means we are likely to eat less than the winter months. We’re also more likely to drink more water for hydration purposes- which in turn can counteract hunger pangs. Thankyou, sun!
3 reasons it’s hard:
1/ Ice cream: Do I really need to elaborate? Summer means cooling off with an icecream…or three! Instead of going for the richest, milkiest form, try sticking to gelato or fruit sorbet. Or, like me, have all the ice cream you want, and work extra hard at the gym to work it all off!
2/ Christmas and New Years: It just so happens that two of the biggest holidays of the year fall smack bang in the middle of summer. That means lots of eating, dinners and socialising. My advice? Eat what you like…without going overboard. Keep things in moderation. Don’t gorge until you feel sick…but if you feel like an extra piece of cake, have a small piece. It’s only Christmas once a year, after all!
3/ Parties: One of the best things about summer is the party atmosphere. And parties usually mean…alcohol. Exessive drinking is an easy way to gain unwanted weight…and quickly. It’s important not to go overboard- not only for your weight, but for your health. Drinking all the time just isn’t healthy.
