HIIT or High Intensity Interval Training is the new buzzword in the fitness niche. And it is not without reason that many people are adopting this regime to ensure that they have toned bodies that they can show off. There are various benefits of High Intensity Interval Training. Here are some of them:
- HIIT packs more punch in a lesser period of time. This is something that appeals to most people these days because no one really has an hour and a half to contribute to the gym and regular cardio exercises and weight training. A study conducted by Gibala et al showed that 2.5 hours of high intensity interval training actually produced similar results in the biochemical nature of the body as compared to 10.5 hours of endurance training.
- The resting metabolic rate also increased with High Intensity Interval Training. This rate remains high for the next 24 hours due to the excessive intake of oxygen.
- HIIT is also a great way in which athletes can increase their athletic performance. This is a great way in which trained athletes who seem to have reached their peak can push further ahead.
- High intensity Interval Training sessions are action packed and there is no element of boredom during the entire process. You do not have to run for hours and you do not have to lift heavy weights slowly and arduously.
The benefits of HIIT are obvious. But what is important is that you should not do this without the trained guidance of a specialist in order to ensure safety and to get the maximum benefit out of the training.
