Last weekend I attended the 2012 Sydney Boat Show at Darling Harbour to try and convince my Dad to buy a boat. And let me tell you it’s pretty easy to convince someone to buy a boat when they are all so beautiful and look so much fun! It’s amazing the amount of on board features boats have these days. It’s not just about fishing, skiing and relaxing – these days it’s about the kitchen sinks, showers, numerous cup holders for your beers and wine and you can’t forget to check out how good the toilet is! A port-a-loo these days just doesn’t seem to cut it! It is just hard to draw the line on a price range. Below is the boat I am convincing my Dad to buy….
I have learnt from experience to look at the luxury cruiser boats on the wharf first. Unfortunately, by the time you get into the showrooms you would have forgotten how amazing those boats truly are as as for most, these boats are way off limits unless you have a spare couple of million! Sadly, I dont!! But there is more to look at than the boats. All the boating, diving and fishing equipment that you can imagine is available as well, often at heavily discounted prices, so it’s a great place to go to buy the latest water skis, wet suits, tubes and more, at very reasonable price.
The Boat Show is a great day out for the whole family as the kids love jumping in and out of the boats and exploring. One boat I went into actually had three boys hiding downstairs. The sales guy had no idea how long they had been down there for! My only warning is that if you are taking a few kids out for the day and they are over 4 years old, it can be quite expensive so just keep that in mind before you get to the gate and have a heart attack when you hand over $100 to get your family inside.
