Early experiences opened Tonya Musgrove’s (StarCentral Magazine’s Fashionista of the Month for July 2017) eyes to the world of beauty and fashion. She shares that “growing up I would always watch my mom and big sister do their makeup as a little girl. I always found it so interesting. When I was old enough to finally wear make-up I was very excited! As a child, I’d tag along with my mom and went clothes shopping with her! I’ve enjoyed it for as long as I can remember.” That fledgling interest didn’t wane. In fact, it only increased in intensity and Tonya says that she “realized I could spend hours shopping, pinning cute outfits on Pinterest, and giving others fashion advice. I wanted to take the next step and turn my passion into a career… I absolutely love how you can be as creative as you want with your style!”

Once she graduated from high school, the 21-year old could now finally devote more time and effort to her chosen career path. But staying motivated is never easy. Helping her on that front, Tonya shares, are the wise words of motivational extraordinaire, Terri Savelle. Sharing her wisdom in a transparent, straightforward and entertaining manner, Savelle (who is host of the ‘Live Your Dreams’ television broadcast, an author, a conference speaker and life coach) have helped hundreds of thousands of people worldwide, like Tonya, finally make their dreams a reality. Her weekly podcast is described as “a lifeline of hope and inspiration to people around the world.”

The Austin, Texas-based style guru took Terri Savelle’s advice to heart and went about achieving her dreams. She established her Instagram account – ‘stylemadesimple_’ which has so far garnered over 2,200 followers! She has also been named as a brand ambassador for James Avery Jewelry, a family-owned company based out of Kerrville, Texas. Established in 1954, the company’s designs (available in sterling silver, yellow and white gold, and gemstones for men and women) “reflect the things that are important in life.” Frequently sporting the James Avery brand on Instagram posts, Tonya called her being asked to take on the role as ambassador as “the most memorable experience” of her career so far. Her career has also allowed her to meet many interesting individuals and the African-American beauty names Jeanine Amapola as the most interesting. Jeanine Amapola is a prolific and successful YouTube video-logger who, despite being only 22 years old and a college student in Texas, has amassed a whopping one million subscribers to her channel! Her content is varied and appeals to many includes beauty, fashion, lifestyle, comedy, fitness, DIY and more, which explains her widespread appeal.

According to Tonya, she’s “learned that it’s important to stay true to yourself and be authentic…” in her chosen career. That knowledge and the unwavering support of her family will be invaluable as she moves forward. She reveals that her future plans include “working on my fashion blog that I’m super excited about! Looking forward to finishing that up the design and layout soon! I’m also a rep for an amazing all natural health and wellness company that I’m absolutely passionate about as well! I love changing people’s lives from the inside out!”
