Avengers: Endgame is definitely on a warpath and it’s destroying any box office record in its path! According to Variety, it has officially taken over the $2 billion mark in its second weekend in theaters, smashing the record for the fastest ever movie to hit that milestone.

Avengers: Endgame is currently the second-highest grossing movie of all time earning a whopping $2.188 billion globally, overtaking the record set by “Titanic” in just 11 days. It also smashed “Avatar’s” record – Avatar previously held the record for the fastest film to hit the $2 billion mark, and it took 47 days to make it happen. Avengers: Endgame actually crossed the $2 billion mark in just its second weekend!

It is now one of only five blockbuster hits to ever hit the $2 billion mark in ticket sales, joining the likes of “Avengers: Infinity War” ($2.04 billion),“ Avatar” ($2.78 billion), “Titanic” ($2.187 billion), and “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” ($2.06 billion).

The 22nd installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe was the much-anticipated lead up to “Avengers: Infinity War,” and it stars some of the biggest Hollywood stars such as Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Brie Larson (Captain Marvel), Chris Pratt (Peter Quill / Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer), Benedict Cumberbatch (Doctor Strange) and Paul Rudd (Ant-Man) among others.

The monster finale to the current phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe immediately got off to a record-breaking start last weekend when it raked in a staggering $1.2 billion worldwide and it continues to demolish box office records up to today.
