Teen climate activist Greta Thunberg was recently added to CNN’s expert coronavirus panel alongside a panel of medical experts and social media didn’t take the news very well.

CNN anchor Anderson Cooper will be hosting the show titled, “Coronavirus Facts and Fears”, which includes the likes of CNN broadcaster Sanjay Gupta, former Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius as well as former Centers for Disease Control and Prevention director Richard Besser.

However, after the big announcement was made on CNN’s Twitter account, a number of their followers were not happy with the decision to feature the teen activist alongside a panel of public health experts.

American conservative political commentator Ben Shapiro totally disagreed with the idea, tweeting to his 2.6 million followers: “Is there anyone at CNN with any level of self-awareness? Featuring Greta Thunberg on a COVID-19 expert panel is just beyond words. I actually cannot believe they are this insane/stupid.”

“From now on, CNN just needs to feature her on every expert panel. Just to f*** with everybody. ‘TONIGHT ON CNN: EXPERT PANEL ON PARTICLE PHYSICS, FEATURING CHILD WHO YELLS AT ADULTS GRETA THUNBERG!’ He added.

CNN’s Twitter account was also slammed by thousands of followers. “Greta Thunberg? Now, she’s a COVID expert? @CNN is a joke!” reads a top response by a Twitter follower among many other tweets.

“What place does Greta Thunberg have in this town hall?” New York magazine journalist Yashar Ali tweeted to his 619,000 followers.

Coronavirus – Facts and Fears, will air tonight at 8:00 pm ET – it should be interesting to watch how this all pans out.
